Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Question: "Will I have to stand up in front of people?"
Answer: Some churches call on their visitors to stand up during the service and introduce themselves. While the people at First Christian Church are genuinely interested in getting to know you and want you feel welcome, we will never call on you or embarrass you in any way. You can relax and enjoy meeting people at your own pace.

Question: "Will I have to dress up?"
Answer: No, you don't. We encourage people to dress comfortably. For some, that may mean dressing up, but for others it means wearing casual clothes. The New Testament simply instructs us to dress modestly and decently. So, we do not burden people unnecessarily by requiring them to dress up in fancy clothes they do not normally wear. We want everyone to come, be comfortable, and enjoy learning about God together.

Question: "Where will my children go during the service?"
Answer: Your children will love First Christian Church! Our children's ministries include an occassional "children's time" during late worship, then the children can leave the sanctuary for Children's Church. We use the "Worship and Wonder" program during the school year, which provides a special, age-appropriate worship experience. During the summer months, children remain in worship with their parents. We also provide a safe, comfortable nursery for infants.
-
Question: "What is the preaching like?"
Answer: The sermon has two primary purposes: to celebrate God's love as revealed through Christ, and to present the relevancy of the Bible to the issues of today.
-
Question: "What kind of music do you have?"
Answer: Our service is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship. We praise God in traditional and contemporary hymns and praise songs, through both instrumental and vocal music.
-
Question: "What about prayer?"
Answer: It is our privilege to bring praise, thanksgiving, confession and requests to God through prayer. We do have several prayer chains in our church that you are welcome to use if there is ever the need. To share a concern or request, simply contact the church office or Lead Pasor, Reverend Cynthia McBride, the Chair of the Eldership, or write us through the website using the "Prayer Concerns" link.
-
Question: "Can I take communion in your church?"
Answer: On the night that Jesus Christ was betrayed, He ate dinner with his disciples, telling them about His upcoming death and asking them to "do this in remembrance of me". As Disciples, we celebrate the Lord's Supper each Sunday. We observe "open communion" which means anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to participate regardless of church affiliation. Communion is a weekly reminder of God's unconditional love poured out for us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
-
Question: "Do you collect an offering?"
Answer: We collect an offering to support the work of our church, worthy causes in our community, and missions work in our country and around the world.
-
Question: "Who can I contact if I still have questions?"
Answer: Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You may also call the church office at 307.234.8964.
